1. the size of the plates
STAMPED MESH PLATES ARE AN INFERIOR PRODUCT and is a cost savings to the manufacturer. There are websites claiming that mesh is superior. Don't believe it! The most important aspect of using a solid plate vs. a meshed plate is the ease of removing calcium and other build up off of the plates. With mesh plates, the calcium binds in the peaks and valleys (holes) of the plates making it very difficult for the calcium and other deposits to be removed. This is the overwhelming reason to use solid plates. Over time, (this will depend on the hardness of your tap water) it becomes very difficult to remove these mineral deposits off of mesh plates and your ionizer will become less and less effective and eventually will no longer produce alkaline water. This is a very common problem with water ionizers today and what they are not telling you.
This is why Enagic’s line of ionizers use solid plates because it ismuch more difficult for the mineral deposits to attach itself to smooth solid plates thus improving the performance of the machine. The 2nd most important aspect is that the solid plates are very durable and can handle the abuse of years of use. This can not be said of mesh plating. Mesh plating is much cheaper (less titanium) and are weaker conductors of electricity for the ionization process. Also mesh doesn’t hold the electrical charge hence less antioxidants and benefit to the body.
Our Enagic machine complies with manufacturing standards (ISO9001) that require the titanium plates to be DIPPED into platinum and covered completely to assure a heavier coating so that the titanium does not leech into the water. Other companies spray it lightly or not at all to save money (platinum $1500- 2000/oz) – after a short time the titanium can make users sick from exposure. If they simply spray the platinum on the plates, the titanium and the platinum won’t bond as well creating problems in the future. Often times the edges are exposed as well. Our Solid Titanium Plates are DIPPED IN PLATINUM, not sprayed, resulting in a heavier and more consistent spread of platinum over the plates. By the way, Platinum is around $2,000 per ounce. Our ionizers have much more platinum compared to our nearest competitor. The type of platinum used is Medical Grade Platinum which is the highest quality platinum available.
Bigger plate size means stronger electrical current potential
More plates = more chambers for water to pass through.
More chambers = stronger electrical for optimal ionization.
BIGGER IS BETTER – Enagic’s Kangen Water System operates at 230 watts
The amount of electrical current and length of exposure of the water to the plates determines the effectiveness of the ionization process.
The SD-501 has 7 SOLID plates with a total surface area of 490 sq. in. ( 5 in x 7in x 14). This requires a large 230 watt transformer. A greater surface area requires a greater heating
element. All of our water ionizers use transformers. Transformers are used because they are the most reliable on the market. The SD-501 uses 230 Watt Transformers.
2. The negative ORP numbers - a direct measurement of antioxidant value. Example: -500 shows much more antioxidant value than -300 while positive numbers show no antioxidant value at all, but show the presence of free radicals; the higher the number, the more free radicals. The negative values achieved are dependent on both the machine you use and the quality of your tap water. Our competitors' machines can seldom get a reading below -50 or -100.
The more effectively the water is ionized, the greater the number of antioxidants as well as a more sanitized water. Ionization creates micro-clustering (water is broken down into smaller size), which provides proper hydration, flushes toxins from the cells and delivers appropriate minerals to the cells. The greater the negative ORP, the greater the antioxidant potential. The more serious the health problem the greater the need for antioxidants.
* Many competitors get their ORP by using inorganic minerals in their filters and it is not due to the ionization.
Inorganic minerals are not good for humans and in the long term are harmful to ingest causing kidney and gallstones etc...
Companies like Jupiter/Ion Ways spend $40K a month on advertising on the Internet to show they are as good or almost as good as Enagic's but no, these are not an independent comparison web sites, they are hired by the companies to appear neutral. Enagic's Sd501 is the mazerati of water ionizers and so everyone is taking about it.
3. The range of pH settings
Do competitor units make strong acid 2.5 or less & strong kangen water 11.5 or more? They will say it does but if it doesn’t use an enhancer like ours does, it’s less than 50% effective at killing germs and bacteria. And it is not as effective for health issues or as a disinfectant. The SD-501 makes medical grade true 2.5 pH high acid and true 11.5 pH high alkaline water thanks to the removable electrolysis enhancer tank. If they didn't, Enagic would lose its credibility and license. This feature should not be overlooked. 2.5 pH is 50,000 times as acidic as neutral 7.0 pH and will kill 99.9% of all bacteria, pathogeans, viruses, the Aids Virus Topiclly and salmonella. 11.5 pH, on the other hand will emulsify oil based pesticides off of fruits and vegetables. No other water ionizer companies can make this claim or even comes close.
4. The ease of use
SD-501 is self cleaning and will clean after every 15 minutes of use but will not start self cleaning if you are using the machine. Our ionizers are the only ionizers in the world which have a minimum life expectancy of 15 to 20 years. If you really take care of it it should last double this. Our Water Ionizers have a 100% organic citrus acid cleaning filter that can be bought for $18 which will clean and remove the built up calcium off of the platinum/titanium plates. No other ionizers have this key function. Do not overlook this feature. This is a HUGE benefit of all of our water ionizers which extends the life many years to come.
5. Warranty Length
5 year warranty – water system designed to last a minimum of 15 years
The SD-501 is the only water ionizer that has a FULL and COMPLETE WARRANTY based on one condition- that the electrolysis chamber is kept clean with a citrus cleaning cartridge, applied twice a year. The first one comes with the machine.
There are no daily, weekly, monthly or yearly limits set as to the amount of water that can be produced from our machines. You can produce an unlimited amount of water.
Our machines do not shut down from overheating because our machines don't overheat. Other companies charge upwards of $700 to replace the platinum/ titanium electrode plates. Enagic only charges $40. Enagic will refurbish and rebuild your titanium/ platinum plates for only $40. This is made available to those who live in very hard water states and who do not use the citrus cleaner at least twice a year. Very rarely needed but a good insurance policy from the company just in case.
Enagic uses only the highest grade medical and industrial parts for its units which is why our units last a lot longer than others and also are more expensive. Competitors - warranty – good luck if you try to take it back. There is usually an enormous amount of fine print – for example, if you produce more than 2.5 gallons a day, this warranty is void, if you make 2 gallons of water you must wait 10-15 minutes or the machine will overheat (due to less power), if you have hard water the warranty is void, etc. If a machine with lesser power starts to overheat the ionization process shuts off.
